These letterpress posters were produced in 2024 in Buenos Aires Argentina. The texts are from artists Jackie Olson, Tamika Knutson, Aubyn O’Grady, Darcy Tara McDiarmid and the grade 5 and 6 students of Robert Service School in Dawson City (Tr’ondëk Hwëch). They respond to the question: “What would you like to tell the world about life here?”. In the coming year we will be be posting these messages in Buenos Aires, Chajari, Seoul, Berlin, London, Dawson City,  Toronto and a few other places.

In the past decade I worked in the Yukon Territory in northern Canada. It is the traditional territory of the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in people. In 2023 and 2024, in  collaboration with the Willow Basket Project and students from the Robert Service School in Dawson City (Tr’ondëk Hwëch), these messages from people in the Yukon to those in other parts of the world were produced.  The messages speak about the way things are.  In July 2024 the messages were made into letterpress posters at Afiches Boqueron, Buenos Aires with the support and oversight from Alejandro Fangi at Biblioteca Tématica La Lechuza, Chajari.

My role on this project is as publisher, curator, and to some extent, designer.

I am grateful to the Graham Family Fund and the Canada Council for the Arts for generously supporting this project.
